Pinehurst Resort & Country Club has announced a unique charity auction of “once-in-a-lifetime experiences” at the celebrated North Carolina golf destination to benefit its Employee Relief Fund.
With the closing of its hotels and restaurants due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, hundreds of its staff have been financially impacted. The exclusive auction items include Pinehurst experiences never offered before to the public.
The highest bid on the “Dornoch Cottage Ultimate Trip” allows four golfers to enjoy a two-night stay in Dornoch Cottage, home of the iconic golf course architect Donald Ross. The cottage is just off the third green of Pinehurst No. 2, arguably the most famous course design of Ross and his renowned body of work. The trip also features three rounds of golf on the No. 2 and No. 4 layouts.
Equally attractive for bidders among the numerous items offered is the chance to “Play All 10 Pinehurst Golf Courses” with a six-night stay in the historic Carolina Hotel. The “Play No. 4 with Gil Hanse” is the rare opportunity to play a round of golf with the noted designer on his own creation.
The “Reserve The Cradle for Half a Day” offers four hours of play for the highest bidder’s family and friends on the Hanse-designed short course which opened in 2017 to rave reviews. The “Wedges and Cabernet” item winner receives a foursome on The Cradle with Hanse playing alongside followed by a group dinner at Dornoch Cottage. Check out their additional auction items.
The bidding closes at 8:30 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Monday, March 30. Barstool Golf’s Sam “Riggs” Bozoian will host the close of the auction on Pinehurst's Instagram page.
Update: As for Sunday, March 29, more than $126,000 had been raised in over 24 hours, and three new experiences have been added to the auction website.
